So it would be nice if i could lower the speed of the GPU fan also! Yesterday i finally got fancontrol running the way i want and all fans, except cpu fan, stop when idle, only with heavy use they startup! I checked all the subdirs in /sys/ but no pwm, only temp input files.

It's my damn card, why can't i do with it what i want? This is exactly the reason i stepped away from windows. Is there any program, cmdline, kernel option that can give me the settings i had in windows? (without going to windows! ) But when idle the fans are making that wining sound again. Only on auto the fan and clockspeed are variable. and the clockspeed stays at low! So now i am constant manually swiching between high and low. Very nice for my ears, but the problem is that i get some flicker now and then. Not an option.Īt low i get the lowest clock and silent fans. I don't want to do that because high is fullspeed and full clock and it stays on that! I have a pretty open case so way too much noise and also the GPU gets pretty warm with this weather on high. I can only choose another profile: auto, low and high

not a chance!?! I installed radeon-profile but i still can't adjust the speed of the fans because the tabs are greyed out.

I know how to solve it, lower the speed and it's gone. My MSI HD5770 Hawk fans make an annoying wining noise when profile is set to auto. This is something i spent a lot of hours on and i can't seem to find any solution.
